Ruth King has a lunch program which is completely optional.  If you are interested in the lunch program, please register your child as their name must be on the list to be served daily basis.

  About Our Food 

Our meals are scratch cooked with great care, using many local and ethically sourced ingredients. We strive to provide nourishing, kid friendly foods. Our goal is to have of our food enjoyed by students. We strive to provide choice, giving students familiar foods that they are likely to like while also introducing them to some new flavors and cuisines from time-to-time. We find that when students eat lovingly prepared food with peers in a safe and familiar setting, they are prone to trying (and sometimes liking!) new things. 

We provide a hot entrée, salad and occasional dessert that is served buffet style, so students can select the items that interest them. Students eat together and are served by caring school staff. All of our food is handled adhering to strict safety and sanitation plans. Our organization is not for profit and values oriented and cares deeply about the social and ecological impacts of our food. Pricing 

We offer a pay-what-you-can model for our program. The price per meal for us to prepare and distribute this food is $7 per meal. For the entire year, that works out to $1225 (175 days). There are 10 months of school, so we invite parents to pay-what-they-can each month. 

AVERAGED OUT MONTHLY PRICING 

1.          0% = $0 

2.         25% = $30.63 (or $1.75/lunch) 

3.         50% = $61.25 (or $3.50/lunch) 

4.         75% = $91.88 (or $5.25/lunch) 

5.         100% = $122.50 (or $7/lunch) 

Having trouble deciding what to pay? Here are some recommendations based on household income: 

1.          $50,000 or less – pay 0% 

2.         $50,000 – $70,000 – pay 25% 

3.         $70,000 – $90,000 – pay 50% 

4.         $90,000 – $110,000 – pay 75% 

5.         Over $110,000 – pay 100%
